Trump’s Qualified Wins on Immigration

With one quasi-win at the Supreme Court and one still evolving at a lower immigration court, it is safe to call it a soft 2–0 for President Donald Trump on immigration matters. The courts did not significantly curtail Trump’s power as desired by the left, but also did not allow the creation of a constitutional black hole in El Salvador that would have greatly increased his power. Of course, there are still big questions to be addressed as appeals play out. An immigration judge recently ruled the Trump administration can...

Dave Smith-Douglas Murray debate highlights Right-wing fault lines

Yesterday’s much-discussed debate between Douglas Murray and Dave Smith, hosted by Joe Rogan, almost perfectly epitomises the divide on the political Right. Murray is a neoconservative intellectual and one of the most prominent public defenders of Israel; Smith is an anti-war libertarian comedian and firm anti-Zionist. The conflict in Gaza has provided a clear fault line for their differences to be exposed.

Yemen Bombing Campaign Could Soon Reach $1 Billion in Costs

The cost of President Donald Trump’s bombing campaign in Yemen against the Ansar Allah militant group, commonly known as the Houthis, could reach well over $1 billion in taxpayer money by next week, the New York Times reports. The strikes began in mid-March after the group threatened to resume attacks in the Red Sea, and the U.S. military has already expended $200 million of munitions alone, in addition to other operational costs. According to the Times, the Pentagon briefed Congress that despite the price tag, the campaign has achieved only...

The Movie That Missed Peak Woke

Society hit “peak woke” sometime before 2025—but Disney’s new live-action Snow White missed the memo. This remake of the 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a tribute to inclusivity, girl power, quirky “theater kids”—really anything but the original’s spirit or plot—and audiences are not enchanted. For those who enjoy a classic princess love story, expect to feel stupid. Lead actress Rachel Zegler considers such plots outdated. In a now-infamous 2022 interview with Extra TV, she slammed the 1937 version, saying, “There’s a big focus on her...

Romanian court rejects appeal by far-right politician to lift candidacy ban

Romania’s top court has upheld a decision to ban presidential election frontrunner Călin Georgescu from standing in a rerun of the vote in May, sparking protest in Bucharest and leaving the country’s far-right parties four days to find a candidate.

Georgescu, an anti-EU, Moscow-friendly populist, surged from almost nowhere to win the first round of the country’s presidential election last year, but the result was annulled by Romania’s top court because of suspected Russian interference.

Romanian electoral committee halts Calin Georgescu's presidential bid

Romania’s Central Electoral Committee has suspended the application by ultranationalist presidential candidate Calin Georgescu to run in the upcoming elections on Sunday, sparking condemnation and unrest.

The country's electoral committee, BEC, examined the documents filed by Georgescu but decided not to approve the one related to his campaign funding as it did not have the required signature, Euronews Romania reports.

Democracy Dies In Romania... After 'Winning' In December, Georgescu Now Banned From May Presidential Election

Is Romania the canary in the 'death of democracy' coalmine?

After today's news, that canary - along with 'democracy' - is well and truly dead.

In a stunning turn of events - that we have a feeling could backfire disastrously on the elite establishment - Romania has barred far-right frontrunner Calin Georgescu from running in May’s presidential election, in a move that could worsen the country’s political turmoil.

The Bucharest-based electoral bureau invalidated Georgescu’s candidacy, a spokesman from the bureau said on Sunday.

Conservative Radio Host Makes the Case to Keep the Government Open

We’re days away from a government shutdown. House Republicans unveiled a six-month continuing resolution to keep the government funded as Congress presses on with the budget reconciliation process that will make the Trump tax cuts permanent, secure the border, and finish the wall, among other things. I don’t mind a good shutdown, but we can’t afford one now.
