House Republicans unveiled the cost-saving centerpiece of President Donald Trump’s “ big, beautiful bill ” late Sunday, at least $880 billion in cuts largely to Medicaid to help cover the cost of $4.5 trillion in tax breaks.

Tallying hundreds of pages, the legislation is touching off the biggest political fight over health care since Republicans tried to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, during Trump’s first term in 2017 — which ended in failure.

Democratic lawmakers and protesters on Friday stormed the gate of Delaney Hall Detention Center, a secure immigration facility in Newark, New Jersey, to advocate for detainees Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin categorized as "murderers, terrorists, child rapists and MS-13 gang members."

A group of protesters, including members of Congress, chased after a bus of detainees entering the security gate, before storming the gate and breaking into the facility, according to a news release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

India and Pakistan have accused each other of "violations" hours after the two nations said they had agreed to a ceasefire following days of cross-border military strikes.

After sounds of explosions were heard in Indian-administered Kashmir, India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said there had been "repeated violations of the understanding we arrived at".

A short while later, Pakistan's foreign ministry said it remained "committed to faithful implementation of a ceasefire...notwithstanding the violations being committed by India in some areas".

Judge orders Tufts student Rümeysa Öztürk to be released

A federal judge granted bail to Tufts University student Rümeysa Öztürk on Friday, freeing her from federal immigration custody more than six weeks after the Trump administration revoked her visa and arrested her.

U.S. District Judge William Sessions ruled that Öztürk raised substantial First Amendment and due process claims, saying the government had given no justification for detaining her other than a student newspaper op-ed she co-authored criticizing Tufts’s response to Israel’s war in Gaza.

Trump touts UK trade deal as boosting US agriculture, beef producers

President Donald Trump announced a trade deal with the United Kingdom on Thursday, which he and White House officials touted as boosting America's agriculture industry, particularly beef producers.

The deal will see lower tariffs as well as reduced non-tariff barriers on a number of goods, including agricultural products, though the basic 10% tariff rate the Trump administration previously imposed will remain in place.
