Progressives Warn That John Fetterman Suffers from Acute Pro-Israel-itis

New York Magazine’s Ben Terris saved the most important part of his extensive profile of Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman for last: “I didn’t find any indication that the stroke had left him cognitively impaired,” he wrote in its concluding paragraphs.

That is not the impression that a reader would have gathered from the worried former Fetterman staffers, jilted progressive activists, and anecdotes detailing the senator’s declining mental health that preceded this observation.

Weak Men Create Hard Times

“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And weak men create hard times.”

This pithy aphorism has captured a popular view of history for as long as we’ve had the concept of history. The ancient Greek historian Herodotus himself wrote, “soft lands breed soft men; wondrous fruits of the earth and valiant warriors do not grow from the same soil.”

Voters See Civility Declining, Expect More Political Violence

The level of civility in American political life has declined, according to  a majority of voters, who expect political violence to increase in the next few years.

Just 12% think the level of civility has gotten better, and another 12% believe it has stayed about the same. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

I was assured that the word would be passed to the local commander and deputies. There was no surprise on their part at what would have been a weird request just a few years ago, for good reason.
