NYPD investigating harassment of woman by pro-Israel mob

New York police are investigating the attack of a Brooklyn woman harassed last week by a pro-Israeli group of men in an encounter captured on multiple videos, which has incited demonstrations and condemnation from religious groups.

The incident last Thursday occurred after pro-Palestinian activists had reportedly gathered to demonstrate against the visit of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir at the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where they were met with Orthodox Jewish counter-protesters, according to the Associated Press.

Jews and gay people should hide identity in ‘Arab neighbourhoods’, says Berlin police chief

Jews and gay people should hide their identity in parts of Berlin with large Arab populations, the German capital’s police chief has warned.

“There are areas of the city, we need to be perfectly honest here, where I would advise people who wear a kippah or are openly gay to be more careful,” said Barbara Slowik.

“There are certain neighbourhoods where the majority of people of Arab origin live, who also have sympathies for terrorist groups,” she said, adding that they were often “openly hostile towards Jews”.

Berlin Police Chief Issues Warning for Jews in City's Arab Neighborhoods

Members of the Jewish and LGBTQ communities are being advised to be careful in some Arab neighborhoods in Berlin the city's police chief said.

Chief Barbara Slowik told the Berliner Zeitung daily newspaper that the city does not have specific "no-go zones" for people, but some areas are unsafe for members of the Jewish and LGBTQ communities. There has been a rise of antisemitic incidents in the German capital since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel. A group of schoolchildren recently was attacked in the city.

Berlin Police Chief Warns Jews and LGBTQs to 'Be Cautious' in Arab Neighborhoods

Berlin's Chief of Police is warning the city's Jewish and gay residents to exercise caution in the city's Arab enclaves, as part of her comments on the rise of antisemitism after October 7.

When asked about safety in Berlin in an interview with German news daily, Berliner Zeitung, the city's Chief of Police, Barbara Slowik, said that while there are not necessarily any "no-go" areas around Berlin, she would encourage residents "who wear a kippah or are openly gay or lesbian to be cautious in certain neighborhoods."

The untold story of Arab Jews — and their solidarity with Palestinians

“This is a struggle between the children of light and the children of darkness, between humanity and the law of the jungle,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a speech last October, days into the Israel-Hamas war.

Netanyahu has voiced that idea repeatedly, both before and after the Hamas attack on October 7 — the idea that Israel is a bastion of Western civilization in an uncivilized, backward, and barbarous region.
