Americans used to be steadfast in their support for Israel. Those days are gone
I ran from the White House briefing room, past the portico entrance of the West Wing to our camera position on the lawn, and flung on an ear piece connecting me to the studio.
A moment later the presenter asked me about the comments we had just heard live from US President Donald Trump.
I said we were seeing a fundamental shift in a United States' policy position after decades of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Share of LGBTQ adults hits new high of 9.3% in Gallup polling
The latest Gallup poll released Thursday finds a new high of 9.3% of adults identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or something other than heterosexual in 2024.
The polling company said the share of LGBTQ adults is up from 7.6% in 2023, has nearly doubled since 2020, and has almost tripled from 3.5% in 2012 when it first posed the question in surveys.
Gallup chalked up the trend to an uptick in younger, liberal women identifying as bisexual during the years of the Biden administration.
Nation happiest ‘ever,’ Trump is ‘best’ president: Rasmussen
Americans have the best outlook for the nation they have ever had, a remarkable turnaround so far kept secret by much of the media and Washington hoping to slow the support for President Donald Trump and his second-term agenda.
Trump's approval rating slips as Americans worry about the economy
U.S. President Donald Trump's approval rating has ticked slightly lower in recent days as more Americans worried about the direction of the U.S. economy as the new leader threatens a host of countries with tariffs, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found.
What’s keeping Trump popular?
Donald Trump has spent his first month as president governing with chaos, shock, and awe. He threatened, walked back, and imposed some tariffs; let Elon Musk take a hatchet to the federal bureaucracy; purged agencies and departments of opposition; and captured media attention with executive orders and expansionist daydreams.
Media Falls Below Congress in Trust Survey
The just-released results from Gallup’s Trust in Media Survey leave no doubt that members of my profession are officially America’s lowest life form. Gallup asked:
In general, how much trust and confidence do you have in the mass media — such as newspapers, T.V. and radio — when it comes to reporting the news fully, accurately, and fairly — a great deal, a fair amount, not very much, or none at all?
A great deal 8
Fair amount 23
Not very much 33
None at all 36
Great News: Americans' Trust In Mass Media Hits All-Time Low
Good news is hard to come by in this late-stage American empire, but a new poll offers a ray of hope, finding that Americans' trust and confidence in mass media is at an all-time low.
Only 31% of Americans have a "great deal" or a "fair amount" of trust in mass media "when it comes to reporting the news fully, accurately and fairly," according to Gallup poll conducted in early September. A greater number of Americans -- 36% -- say they have no trust at all.
Gallup Poll: 32 Percent to Back Candidate With Same Abortion View
A record-high 32% of U.S. voters say they will only vote for a candidate who shares their views on abortion, according to a new Gallup poll released Thursday.
The result is up 4 points since the question was surveyed last year and 8 points since 2020, according to Gallup. That surge is attributed to abortion-backing voters in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's 2022 Dobbs ruling that struck down Roe v. Wade, according to the survey.
Democrats have become significantly more liberal since 1999: Gallup
Democrats have become much more likely to lean liberal in their social views over the past 25 years, according to a new Gallup analysis.
An analysis of a May Gallup survey found liberal identification has gradually increased since 1999, while conservative and moderate identification have each decreased slightly over the years.
U.S. Falls Out of Top 20 Happiest Countries for the First Time Ever
For the first time in the World Happiness Report’s dozen-year history, the U.S. did not rank in the top 20 of the world’s happiest countries.
Out of the more than 140 nations surveyed, the U.S. landed in 23rd place, compared to 15th place in 2023. While the U.S. is still in the top 10 happiest countries for those 60 years old and above, its overall ranking fell due to a significant decline in the reported well-being of Americans under 30.
