Judge orders release of Tufts University doctoral student from ICE custody

A federal judge in Vermont on Friday ordered that a Tufts University doctoral student be released on bail from ICE custody after her visa was revoked by the Trump administration.

U.S. District Judge William Sessions slammed the government in ordering Rumeysa Ozturk, a Turkish notional, released while their case against her proceeds, saying that the government had not produced any evidence against her aside from an op-ed she co-wrote in her student newspaper last year.

Former Supreme Court Justice David Souter, a Republican who became a liberal darling, dies at 85

Retired Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter, the ascetic bachelor and New Hampshire Republican who became a darling of liberals during his nearly 20 years on the bench, has died. He was 85.

Souter died Thursday at his home in New Hampshire, the court said in a statement Friday.

He retired from the court in June 2009, giving President Barack Obama his first Supreme Court vacancy to fill. Obama, a Democrat, chose Sonia Sotomayor, the court’s first Latina justice...

Trump and allies ramp up attacks on judges, courts as agenda hits legal roadblocks

As courts block parts of his agenda, President Donald Trump and his allies are ramping up criticism of judges and continuing to question judicial oversight of the executive branch.

While he's said he would abide by their rulings -- but also appeal them -- he kept up the effort to undermine the authority of the courts on Wednesday, alleging in a social media post that a "highly political, activist judge" wanted to stop the work of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency...

Trump nominates five people to fill judicial vacancies

President Donald Trump on Tuesday formally unveiled his first round of judicial nominees since returning to the White House, tapping five lawyers whose legal credentials include prestigious clerkships and working for Republican state attorneys general or as federal prosecutors.

If confirmed, the nominees would join a federal court system whose judges have lifetime appointments and can shape policy over multiple administrations.

Trump will name more conservative judges. He may even pick a majority of the Supreme Court.

Republicans are gearing up to lock in their remake of the judiciary under President-elect Donald Trump and a new Senate majority, including potentially installing several more conservative Supreme Court justices.

Having already picked three Supreme Court justices in his first term — who were critical in overturning abortion rights — Trump will have appointed a majority of the court if he lands two more...

Judicial Restoration, or Checking and Balancing the Judiciary

In a previous article, I wrote about judicial restraint.

The federal judiciary is out of control. Their nationwide injunctions make a mockery of the rule of law, and they undermine our constitutional republic. The consistent allocation of key cases to any federal judge determined to thwart President Trump’s America First agenda is very disturbing.

Congress can and should take the following actions to resolve these problems:

Impeach and hold trials on the rogue judges undermining the Constitution

Judges block Trump push to cut funding to public schools over diversity programs

A federal judge on Thursday blocked Trump administration directives that threatened to cut federal funding for public schools with diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

The ruling came in a lawsuit brought by the National Education Association and the American Civil Liberties Union, which accused the Republican administration of giving “unconstitutionally vague” guidance and violating teachers’ First Amendment rights...

Judges Behaving Like Criminals

They didn’t “make a mistake.”

They didn’t “misunderstand the law.”

They didn’t “exercise poor judgment.”

No—New Mexico Judge Joel M. Cano, Massachusetts Judge Shelley Richmond, and Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan made conscious, deliberate, and premeditated decisions to aid criminals, obstruct law enforcement, and desecrate the very system they were sworn to uphold.

In just a few days' time, these three black-robed offenders committed what can only be described as acts of judicial treason against the American people.
