Trump border czar Tom Homan has defended the administration’s arrest of Newark, New Jersey‘s mayor outside an ICE facility—and warned others could follow.

“They can try to hide all they want with these protests around the facility, but we’re going to continue doing what we’re doing,” he told Fox News in an interview about the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in New Jersey’s largest city.

Democratic lawmakers and protesters on Friday stormed the gate of Delaney Hall Detention Center, a secure immigration facility in Newark, New Jersey, to advocate for detainees Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin categorized as "murderers, terrorists, child rapists and MS-13 gang members."

A group of protesters, including members of Congress, chased after a bus of detainees entering the security gate, before storming the gate and breaking into the facility, according to a news release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday due to construction.

The ground stop is in effect until 11:15 a.m.

A wildfire in New Jersey exploded to 13,250 acres after igniting Tuesday in Ocean County and threatening more than 1,000 structures, shutting down a major highway and causing thousands of people to flee the flames.

By Wednesday afternoon, officials said firefighters were gaining the upper hand on the blaze. The Jones Road Wildfire was 50% contained as of 7 p.m. ET, according to New Jersey Forest Fire Service officials.

The wildfire in Ocean County, New Jersey that started Tuesday has now burned 13,500 acres, and is on track to becoming the Garden State's largest wildfire in nearly two decades.

The Jones Road Wildfire is expanded dramatically Wednesday night and while it is now 50% contained, as per the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, it remains a threat to some populated areas.

Officials said Wednesday that the blaze has the potential to become New Jersey's largest wildfire in nearly 20 years.

A rapidly spreading wildfire in Ocean County, New Jersey, has surged to 12,500 acres since igniting on Tuesday, prompting mass evacuations, damaging structures, and forcing the closure of a major highway.

The wildfire spread quickly across the Greenwood Forest Management Area, located south of Toms River which is said to be stated amid dry conditions, wind gusts, and highly flammable pine forest vegetation.
