Second federal judge extends block preventing the Trump administration from freezing funding

A second federal judge on Thursday extended a block barring the Trump administration from freezing grants and loans potentially totaling trillions of dollars.

U.S. District Court Judge John McConnell in Rhode Island granted the preliminary injunction in the lawsuit filed by nearly two dozen Democratic states after a Trump administration plan for a sweeping pause on federal spending stirred up a wave of confusion and anxiety across the United States.

Races to watch in the New Hampshire, Delaware and Rhode Island primaries

Voters in New Hampshire, Delaware and Rhode Island will head to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots in the last round of statewide and congressional primaries before November.  

In the Granite State, voters will pick their favorites to go head-to-head in the gubernatorial election to replace outgoing Gov. Chris Sununu (R). Democrats are also closely watching the primary between former Biden official Maggie Goodlander and former New Hampshire Executive Councilor Colin Van Ostern to replace retiring Rep. Annie Kuster (D-N.H.).

Man flown to hospital after being stabbed multiple times, police say

A 62-year-old man was flown to a Rhode Island hospital on Tuesday with what police described as life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed multiple times at a residence in Centerville, one of Barnstable’s seven villages, according to police. Barnstable police received multiple 911 calls around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday reporting the stabbing. When police arrived, they identified a 24-year-old man, who is known to the wounded man, as the suspect, according to a statement posted to the department’s Facebook page. N.H. to hold hearing on Volodymyr Zhukovskyy’s request to restore his driving privileges

The hearing officer has the authority to decide whether Zhukovskyy can resume driving in New Hampshire, but cannot address restrictions he faces from drivers licensing agencies in other states, including Massachusetts. Zhukovskyy, of West Springfield, Mass., was granted a driver’s license in Massachusetts in 2013, and obtained a commercial license in 2018, records show.
