Washington sues federal agencies who tied funding to immigration enforcement cooperation

Washington has filed two lawsuits against the Trump administration after federal agencies tied federal funding appropriations to the state’s willingness to cooperate with immigration enforcement. The lawsuits, which were filed against the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Transportation, follow months of warnings by Gov. Bob Ferguson about what effect the potential loss of federal funds could have on the state. According to the lawsuit, both federal agencies have recently issued new requirements for funds that stipulate a state must comply with immigration cooperation.

Federal grand jury indicts Milwaukee judge accused of obstructing immigration agents

A federal grand jury Tuesday indicted a Wisconsin judge arrested by the FBI for allegedly obstructing government agents seeking to detain an undocumented immigrant. The two-page indictment accuses Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan of confronting members of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and falsely telling them they needed a judicial warrant to conduct their operation. It also accused her of directing the undocumented immigrant and his lawyer to exit through a separate door to sidestep federal agents.

Wisconsin judge indicted in immigration case

A grand jury still reviews charges brought by complaint to determine whether enough probable cause exists to continue the case as a check on prosecutors’ power. If the grand jury determines there’s probable cause, it issues a written statement of the charges known as an indictment. That’s what happened in Dugan’s case. Dugan faces up to six years in prison if she’s convicted on both counts. Her team of defense attorneys responded to the indictment with a one-sentence statement saying that she maintains her innocence and looks forward to being...

The Left Says Quiet Part Out Loud: Whites Need Not Apply for Asylum

It looks like your liberal neighbors will have to take down their “refugees welcome” signs now. A small group of South African refugees arrived in the United States on Monday bearing American flags. They came to the U.S. after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February designating them as in need of asylum. One would think the Left would be happy about this. After all, Democrats are allegedly the party of refugees. All are welcome, right? Wrong. What’s going on here? I think it’s obvious, but let’s start...

Beat cops to game wardens, Florida expands ‘army’ of immigration enforcers

Eager to join the Trump administration’s push to deport unauthorized migrants, Florida is now raising what some call an army of immigration enforcers by enlisting beat cops and even game wardens to arrest the unauthorized residents. Having already deployed this expanded, deputized corps to conduct the largest sweep of unauthorized immigrants in the state’s history – a week-long sting operation last month called Operation Tidal Wave – Florida is now serving as a bellwether for the Trump administration’s broader effort to achieve deterrence throughout the United States. The 1990s saw...
