Clean Energy Tax Credits Gain Bipartisan Support Amid Budget Debate
As Congress debates budget bills proposing deep cuts in federal spending, Biden-era tax credits for clean energy have gained crucial support among some Republican lawmakers and voters.
Four Republican senators wrote to their party's leadership April 9 to "caution against the full-scale repeal" of tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that support investments in renewable energy installations, battery manufacturing, energy efficiency improvements and the production of alternative fuels.

Biden Administration Awards $6.6 Billion Loan to EV Maker Accused of Defrauding Investors
The Biden administration announced Tuesday it is loaning $6.6 billion to an electric-vehicle maker facing accusations of defrauding investors.
The Department of Energy’s Loan Program Office is awarding $6.6 billion to a subsidiary of Rivian Automotive to construct Project Horizon, an electric-vehicle factory in Georgia east of Atlanta. Rivian previously paused construction of the $5 billion Georgia facility earlier this year to cut costs and speed up production.
Biden administration to loan $6.6B to EV maker Rivian to build Georgia factory that automaker paused
President Joe Biden’s administration announced Tuesday that the U.S. Department of Energy will make a $6.6 billion loan to Rivian Automotive to build a factory in Georgia that had stalled as the startup electric vehicle maker struggled to become profitable.
It’s unclear whether the administration can complete the loan before Donald Trump becomes president again in less than two months, or whether the Trump administration might try to claw the money back.
The Senate just passed a critical clean energy bill to pave the way for more nuclear
Democrats and Republicans in a bitterly divided Congress can agree on one thing: the US needs more nuclear to power America’s rapidly growing energy appetite — and fast.
The Senate overwhelmingly approved a major bill Tuesday night to make it easier, cheaper and faster to permit and build new nuclear reactors. The ADVANCE Act, which passed with just two senators voting no, now heads to Biden’s desk for signing, which he is expected to do.
Biden, After Budgeting $7.5 Billion for Half a Million EV Charging Stations, Has Built Only '7 or 8'
The ‘great transition’ to renewable energy has so far been an expensive policy belly flop. The Biden administration has spent tens of billions of dollars on green energy, yet last year America and the world used record amounts of fossil fuels. That would seem to be prima facie evidence that this “great transition” to renewable energy has so far been an expensive policy belly flop. The evidence is everywhere. Americans aren’t buying electric vehicles any more than they were before President Biden was elected. Even with record federal subsidies, car...
Biden administration awarding nearly $1 billion for green school buses
The Biden administration is sending $900 million in rebates to 530 school districts across the country to replace diesel buses with electric school buses.
The administration says the rebates will help buy more than 3,400 such buses, 92% of which will be electric. It's something the Environmental Protection Agency claims will combat asthma and speed up the move to zero emission vehicles. So far, the EPA has awarded close to $3 billion for 8,500 school bus replacements.
Biden administration awarding $900M for green school buses
The Biden administration announced Thursday it will award nearly $900 million for clean energy school buses to hundreds of school districts across the country.
Through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2023 Clean School Bus Program rebate competition, the agency selected more than 500 school districts to receiving the funding to replace diesel fueled school buses.
Biden admin prioritizes $900 million for green school buses as illiteracy plagues US schools
The Biden administration is dispersing nearly $900 million dollars in federal grants for school districts nationwide to decarbonize their bus fleets, despite child illiteracy continuing to plague children in the U.S. education system.
On Wednesday, the White House unveiled nearly $900 million in awards to 530 school districts to replace thousands of aging, gas-fueled school buses with "cleaner" electric models.
Researchers make massive lithium discovery in Pennsylvania
Scientists from the University of Pittsburgh have discovered a large amount of lithium located in Pennsylvania, saying it could eventually supply more than a third of America’s needs for the mineral.
Researcher and study lead author Justin Mackey told CBS Pittsburgh in an article published Wednesday that the wastewaters of the Marcellus Shale gas wells could cover “somewhere between 30 and 40 percent of the current U.S. national demand.”
